Remifemin is a non-hormonal herbal treatment for menopause complaints such as hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, mood swings and insomnia. Remifemin contains a dry extract of Cimicifugae racemosae rhizome (Black cohosh). Remifemin is an herbal relief for emotional and vasomotor complaints due to the climacteric condition, such as hot flushes, sweating, and anxiety and sleep disorders.
Remifemin is supported by over 60 years of documented experience with isopropanolic extract of Cimicifuga racemosa (iCR). Cimicifuga racemosa extracts are an important treatment option for menopausal symptoms worldwide. The first medicinal product from Cimicifuga has been available in the form of isopropanolic extract iCR since 1956 (Remifemin Germany). During the 50s to 70s clinical studies on Cimicifuga were observational studies, but then in the 80s controlled studies began to be published. The rst placebo-controlled study emerged 1986. From 2000 to 2015, a total of 28 clinical studies in Europe, America and Asia were published on the efficacy of Cimicifuga. In these studies, 11,073 patients received a Cimicifuga based medicinal product, 93% thereof iCR.A meta-analysis of all nine placebo-controlled studies published until 2013 confirmed the reliable efficacy of Cimicifuga based medicinal products for menopausal symptoms.
